Recently, we blogged about how a major manufacturer of USP phosphates, acetates and sulfates is exiting the business. Here at D&I, we have been busy working with customers to make sure that they have enough materials on order to last them through the “spec” period. But as each day passes, we feel the tightness becoming a reality as customers look for solutions.
Recently D&I met with Avantor Performance Materials to see how they were handling the situation. Jai Murthy, VP-Business Manager, Global Pharma at Avantor, said, “While we were surprised that the supplier decided to exit, Avantor has moved quickly to implement our mitigation strategy. We identified the products that were impacted and have suggested alternatives. In addition, we have started packaging samples for customers, for their qualification processes.” In short, Avantor is stepping up to provide customers the information they need to address the situation and mitigate their risk going forward.
If you are wondering if your materials will be impacted, below is a list of the products being discontinued. If you use these products, we suggest you forecast your usage for the next 3-6 months and place orders.
