The first day of operations at one of our new facilities is always exciting, and so I’m happy to say that our new state-of-the-art Durham, North Carolina service center has opened for business this morning. Read the press release.
We invested in the new 50,000 square foot facility to support the growth of our business in the Southeast and increase our capacity to provide Streamline services to our Life Science and Advanced Technology customers. We have tripled the racked storage capacity of our previous Durham facility, and increased throughput and efficiency with additional loading docks and clearly segregated material staging areas for receiving and shipping processes. The increased space also supports enhanced services such as cleanroom services, cold storage and plastic pallet storage and exchange.
In addition to increased capacity, the facility incorporates robust hazmat storage and cGMP-compliant features and systems. These dual elements support our ability to tightly integrate our supply chain services and warehouse operations with those of our customers—who we literally want to feel right at home in our facility. For instance, the ability to provide significant flammable materials storage capacity in a facility (hazmat storage feature) with tight temperature control (cGMP compliance feature) is something you won’t find in a typical distribution facility.
Facility systems to support our Streamline services include a modular ISO Class 8 cleanroom for raw material sampling services and a 450 square foot cGMP-compliant 2-8˚C cold room for critical raw material storage. A separate cleanroom environment is available for dip tube exchange services.

Finally, we incorporated energy efficient LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) design principles into the lighting, HVAC, and building envelope systems and designed comprehensive storm water management features to provide an environmentally friendly operation.
