For me CPhI Worldwide is the mecca of the pharma world as over 36,000 pharma professionals migrate to a central location every fall. With representation from over 150 countries, everyone comes together to talk about one thing: PHARMA. Whether you are representing manufacturing, sourcing, or production, there is an offering that covers the entire pharma workflow. It’s a way to develop and nurture relationships on a global scale, while staying in tuned with key industry trends.
There is no time to worry about jetlag. Once that plane hits the runway in Barcelona, the 3 day event is well underway, like the opening scene of Mission Impossible II. Between the networking opportunities industry updates, and collaboration, there is no time for sleep.
As CPhI is quickly approaching, I aim to have 80% of my time planned with 20% for flexibility. Here are tips to ensure efficiency:
- Organization (80%): Since schedules can quickly get chaotic, it is important to prep and organize. This event is dynamic and fast paced, so it is key for us to have our schedule defined and finalized prior to the event.
- Flexibility (20%): As for that 20% mentioned earlier, it’s also important for you to build in flexibility within your schedule. Last minute cancellations or new opportunities can easily arise. So be prepared for impromptu meetings because sometimes the best things come out of unexpected discussions.
Networking: Networking opportunities at events are a given, but the scale of this event and the diversity of representation gives you access to more than you bargained for. Large Pharma companies have presence all over the world. Being headquartered in the US gives us easy access to US contacts. But since CPhI is a global endeavor, we have the opportunity to network on a different scale with our current and potential customers and suppliers. As mentioned in our Ireland post, Ireland is the new breeding ground for biotech start ups. As a result, attending CPhI gives us access to those relationships.
People: From decision makers to manufacturers to quality specialists, the range of people that attend the event allows for dynamic collaboration.
Industry insights: Access to industry insights is key for the evolution of a business. The internet is a breeding ground of information and trends, but sometimes it can be overwhelming. Being surrounded by trends and insight real time is truly impactful to our business. The training sessions and speakers give us direct access to the trendsetters in the pharmaceutical industry.
